For many, a summer or holiday home is a sanctuary - a place to pause everyday life, where comfort and aesthetics matter just as much as in the main residence. But when the temperature drops, heating quickly becomes a priority. Wood-burning stoves and electric radiators are still among the most common heating solutions in summer homes.
Today, more people are installing heat pumps - a great and cost-effective alternative that makes efficient use of electricity. But modern electric radiators have also come a long way and are now far more efficient and reliable than the old “toaster-style” electric heaters. If you still have those installed in your holiday home, you could save energy and money - and achieve better heating - by replacing them with a modern electric radiator.
Electric radiators are ideal for holiday homes because they are:
If you also have the option of combining your electric radiators with solar panels to generate green electricity - and possibly solar thermal panels for hot water - you can significantly reduce your holiday home’s operating costs while at the same time doing something good for the environment.
At Hudevad, we never compromise on aesthetics – not even when it comes to electric heating. Our electric models combine elegant design with high functionality, fitting seamlessly into modern, light-filled holiday homes with natural materials and open spaces.
Whether you have plenty of wall space, high ceilings, or a compact one-room cottage, we have a solution to match your needs.
An elegant, softly curved electric radiator – ideal for walls where a gentler visual expression is desired. It distributes heat evenly throughout the room and is built around a volcanic stone core using dry inertia technology. This means the radiator contains no liquids or oil. Installation is simple and quick – requiring only electricity, no piping.
A lightweight yet robust oil-filled electric radiator. Made from aluminum, it is designed to quickly and evenly distribute heat across the surface, radiating warmth throughout the room. The aluminum construction ensures high heat transfer and a low surface temperature – making it both efficient and user-friendly.
Our signature Hudevad Plan XV Power features a flat front and slim profile. This vertical electric radiator is ideal for larger spaces. It is pre-filled with fluid and is equipped with a wireless RF thermostat for optimal control.
Whether your summer or holiday home is located by the Danish coast, in a Swedish forest, or on a French mountaintop, the ever-changing weather demands a heating solution that is both robust and efficient. Hudevad radiators are developed, tested and built to last for years – even in seasonal homes that aren’t heated year-round.
Most of us use our holiday homes primarily in spring and summer, when a quick fire in the wood-burning stove or fireplace is often enough. But with the increasingly unpredictable weather, it’s a real comfort to be able to switch on the heat – even in summer after a windy and wet day!
If you don’t use your holiday home at all during winter, it’s advisable to shut it down properly in the autumn. That means draining all pipes and closing the main water valve. It’s also a good idea to maintain some ventilation – for instance, using fresh air valves in the window frames.
If you use your summer house occasionally during winter, it’s important to keep the indoor temperature between 10–12°C to protect pipes and fixtures.
As a final note – for winter heating to be effective and not wasteful, proper insulation is of course essential.
At Hudevad Radiator Design, we are happy to help you find the right heating solution for your summer or holiday home. Whether you’re building new, renovating, or simply looking to improve comfort in the off-season, we have a radiator to match both your practical needs and aesthetic preferences.
